Vashon Household Co-Housing

10421 SW Bank Rd.
Vashon, WA 98070

We provided full development services to Vashon Household help them build the five houses that would later grow into the Vashon Household Co-Housing community.  VHH sold these first five homes to income-qualified first-time buyers.  Though owned outright by their buyers, by covenant these houses can only be resold to people whose incomes do not exceed 80% of the area median income and who have completed VHH’s screening process.  The homes must be resold below market value to serve future generations of low-income buyers.  Today, the community has grown to families living in 18 private homes on 12 acres near the town of Vashon.  Co-Housing homes are clustered to preserve surrounding woods and open space.  Each household has a private residence but also shares extensive common facilities such as a dining hall, children’s playrooms, workshops, guest rooms, and laundry facilities.
