Youth Emergency Services - North

525 Highland Dr.
Arlington, WA 98223

Cocoon House is an established provider of youth emergency shelter facilities.  Seeing an increased need for safe and supportive alternatives for homeless youth in northern Snohomish County, Coccon House came to Common Ground for assistance in developing Youth Emergency Services (YES) North.  YES North houses up to 8 runaway and homeless youth between the ages of 13 and 17. A live-in licensed foster parent provides oversight and supervision.  In addition to bedrooms for the teens, the building includes a unit for the foster parent, a crafts and study room, counseling space, and shared living areas. The project has been designed for the needs of the youth population, with an emphasis on safety, common areas for socializing, and a "homelike" environment.
